Chapati was starting out in Melbourne’s busy Indian dining scene. The goal was to attract both the Indian community in Australia and local Australians by offering something new, an experience that felt real, relatable and visually distinct. But the category looked repetitive, caught between beige “authenticity” and loud red and yellow clichés. Chapati needed a distinct identity that could cut through the clutter and show India in a light that felt fresh yet true.
Dreamjar developed a brand identity that reimagined how India could be seen and felt. The idea, India, served., became the brand’s foundation and voice. Pastels replaced the conventional beiges and high saturated palettes, creating a look that felt fresh yet rooted in emotion. This helped Chapati connect with both Indians away from home and Australians drawn to novelty. Symmetry gave structure to the expressive world of illustrations, while a unified system tied every touchpoint together through colour, composition and story. The result was a brand that embraced the mayhem with wit and wonder in every detail.
